CROP HEALTH
A RESEARCH PROJECT
Crop Classifier
A small research project where I trained a model to sort crop images, then added visual explanations so you can see what it noticed.
Hey there, I’m Abylay. I’m in Washington.
I’m a software engineer and CS grad student. Lately I’ve been working on robots, computer vision, and backend tools — and figuring out how to make them useful outside a demo.
A FEW THINGS I’VE MADE
A mix of experiments, school projects, and ideas I wanted to see through.
A RESEARCH PROJECT
A small research project where I trained a model to sort crop images, then added visual explanations so you can see what it noticed.
A SIDE PROJECT
I wanted to see how useful AI agents could work together. Juma lets specialized agents hand work off, share notes, and stay within a few safety guardrails.
SENIOR DESIGN · TEAM ARTEMIS
With Team Artemis, I helped build A.V.A., a proof-of-concept tool that makes it easier for farmers to train their own computer-vision models. It guides people through collecting and labeling photos, training YOLOv8 models, and trying them on a portable touchscreen demo. We explored weed detection for targeted spraying, wildlife alerts, and food-quality checks.
A COMMUNITY APP
A mobile app I helped build to track stray animals and make it easier for communities in Kazakhstan to coordinate care.
A BIT OF MY PATH
Some of the people and places that have taught me a lot along the way.
More on LinkedIn ↗I help keep live robot deployments running smoothly, track down odd behavior, and share useful field notes with the engineers.
A bit of backend work, a bit of hands-on hardware, and plenty of figuring things out for people who need their systems to just work.
I built the APIs and integrations that helped new enterprise clients get started about 30% faster.
I got to try out image-classification models, visualize what they were paying attention to, and build a little demo for people to explore.
I wrote small scripts that took the repetitive work out of scan-file checks and backups — saving the team more than 20 hours a week.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I’m doing my master’s in computer science at Arizona State after studying software engineering at WSU Everett. I like making things, learning as I go, and getting out for a bit when I’ve been looking at a screen too long. This photo is from one of those days.
SAY HELLO
I’m always up for meeting good people, swapping ideas, or hearing what you’re making.
